Briefly known as Frozen Flames in the beginning,Artillery won the IIT-Roorokee National Level Rock Competition,soon after its inception in February 2004. However due to some unavoidable problems and situations,the band had to come to a halt with lots of time to time lineup changes and uncertainities.As a consequence the band was not able to continue performing and recording. Inspite of all this,Luke(vocals) and Rajdeep( guitars)(who had started off together with Frozen Flames),kept searching and auditioning for prospective members,until in November 2004,Rajdeep met Guitarist Raul Bellgard. They jammed once and quite frankly got along very well. Rajdeep wasted no time in breaking the news to Luke. However they still didnt have a definite bass player,with many bassists getting on and off the deck. The lineup was later completed with raj on the bass.
They had since then been concentrating on their long awaited CD Single Demo "Bombs Away",(which has been completed recently). And right about now,the band has got nothing else on mind but shows,shows and a whole lot of shows. Artillery draws their influence from metal greats like Megadeth,Metallica and Iron Maiden. However they also belive in diversity and experimentation with other forms of the genre.i.e. If in case they listen to something contemporary (or maybe ordinary!) and like it or find it interesting,they would go all the way out to experiment and see what new can theythey make out of it.
The Situation Now,2006
It would not be wrong to say that the past year has been very phenomenal to all the bands members,as every one got enough time to rethink and reaffirm themselves as musicians. Everyone agrees that they have put in more thought to themselves not just in the musical perspective,but also personally. As of now the band is coming back together with a new set of line up. After the exit of Rajdeep (who is in UK for further studies,and a new music career)and Samrat (now independent),this time around,Deepak (former drummer of AFTER DARK)and Alvin Jose (a Guitarist,formerly based in Bangalore) will be stepping in to step up the onslaught. As of now the band has hit the jampad once again and is exploring newer grounds and making the best out of the new alliance. They plan to come back soon and hit the scene (It has been almost an year now)
A little intoduction to the band:
The Members:-
Luke (vocals):
A PR consultant by day,an unrelenting headbanger by night. Of late,he has been exploring and experimenting a lot with his vocal chords and has been spending a fair amount of time on searching for newer sounds and further developing his vocal skills. So maybe next time when you hear him,he might sound a little different than usual.
Raul Bellgard(lead Guitars,Bak Vox):
Raoul might seem to be your average megadeth fan. But the man works no holds barred on himself as a musician(and has also been working hard putting the band back together). He draws inspiration from artists like Megadeth,Annihilator,Joe Sat,Reb Beach,Nuno Bettencourt,Alex Skolnick and Don Dokken.
He carries an impressive caliber,and constantly keeps working to improve himself further as a musician and keeps adding new twists and turns wherever he can. A true metaller to the core,believes in killer unforgiving solos; See ya on stage!
Weapon of Choice:-Kramer striker
Alvin Jose (Guitars, bak vox)
He has been playing guitars for the past 4 years now,and has improved furiously ever since. His influences include a wide array of artists like Iron Maiden,Megadeth,Hammer Fall,Helloween,Judas Priest,Led Zepplin,Inflames and the likes. Keeps a low profile and usually keeps to himself,but otherwise,one hell of a guy.
Weapon of choice:-Washburn series
raj das(bass):
raj has a hell lot of creative interests besides music...a graphic designer who puts in a lot of commitment n delivers what is required n not more....his influences range from arch enemy,devil driver,cob,lamb of god.etc...
Weapon of Choice: Washburn Bass Guitar
Deepak (Drums):
Deepak loves to be what he is without the much worries of life!a flight steward who is been playin for about 8 yrs ( also the former drummer of after dark)has brought a much tight and diverse sound to ARTILLERY .influences include nicko mcbrain, mike portney, vinnie paul n the likes!
