CounterCulture, BLR To Host An Ode To The Blues Festival On April 26

Apr 23, 04:08pm

CounterCulture in Bangalore are ready to host the An Ode to The Blues festival come this Saturday, featuring a host of blues musicians.

CounterCulture in Bangalore will offer the grooviest blues night in town this Saturday, April 26, as they set up for An Ode to the Blues festival, bringing some of the most recognised faces of blues from India and abroad, including Soulmate from Shillong, Mumbai’s Blackstratblues, the legendary Guitar Shorty from the USA, and more. The night is going to be set on two stages; the Robert Johnson Stage will host Guitar Shorty, Soulmate, and more, while the Roots Blues Stage will play host to artists like Bangalore’s blues duo By2Blues, blues rock & roll outfit the Sylvester Trio, amongst others.

An Ode to the Blues first hit the scene in 2011, celebrating the centenary anniversary of blues legend and pioneer, Robert Johnson. What seemed to have started off as a humble tribute to the art form is now one of the nation’s foremost gathering of blues musician. Beyond the musical performances, the festival is also host to spontaneous busking, film screenings, LP listening sessions, discourses and workshops, and this time CounterCulture has brought in America’s blues legend David Kearney aka. Guitar Shorty; a blues maestro that has influenced guitarists of the calibre of Jimi Hendrix and Buddy Guy over the course of his colossally legendary career.
