The Vinyl Records's Crowd Funding Success

Jul 03, 05:06pm

Carrying out a crowd funding campaign, The Vinyl Records were recently successful in raising nearly 1.25 lakhs for their music video, scheduled to release in October.

Delhi-based new wave, indie, post punk rock band The Vinyl Records recently succeeded in raising the requisite amount of money needed to produce their music video, through a solely crowd-funded initiative.  Hailing from the North-East, the four piece outfit achieved the target of raising 1.25 lakhs with relative ease, in collaboration with the creative promotional website Wishberry.

This is surely a big step forward towards the popularization of crowding funding culture in India, with largely audience driven concerts like Control Alt Delete, being huge successes in the recent past. Mithy Tatak, drummer of the band, said, “Crowd funding is a new concept, which people are gradually accepting. What matters here is the nature of the campaign, which should be appealing to the crowd”. Moreover, we were informed that the work on the video should be beginning in the month of August and consequently releasing in October. Although the song has not been finalized, it would be chosen from their debut EP, Whims - released last year – with the video being produced by Clockwork Studios in Mumbai.

Meanwhile, the band is also collaborating with Red Bull for another music video for their track ‘Ready Set Go’ which is poised to release in the coming days. Asked about their plans for the immediate future, Mithy said,  “We’ll be working on an album in August, and would prefer to go with the flow and vibe”. With all these engagements in the coming months, the band certainly seems to be determined to reach out to a larger audience in the country.
