I had the same problem with high-pitched vocalists from the 80s, it got on my nerves. Yeah, seriously what is core?

I for one am very annoyed with many of the Mastaclones like The Ocean and Bison BC. You are just starting to get into the music and dismiss its many similarities to Mastadon and then suddenly there's this guy shouting like he's your asshole neighbour telling you to turn that noise down.

Unlike growling which can be done with a certain amount of flair and personality (Ross Dolan, John Tardy, Barney Greenway) yelling just plain gets on my nerves. The only thing that's worse is yelling followed by melodic chorus. Make up your mind, you stupid fucks! I blame this all on the asshole attitude that a lot of metal fans/bands have that singing (unless its being done by someone they'd look idiotic for not liking like Bruce Dickinson or Dio) is somehow wimpy and not as "metal" as some guy bellowing incompetently.
