Nevermore Splits Up

My favorite metal band of all time just issued this statement :

NEVERMORE guitarist Jeff Loomis and drummer Van Williams have announced their departure from the group. The two have released a joint statement: "In a mutual decision Jeff Loomis and Van Williams have decided to leave Nevermore. The time has come to pursue our own paths from the group. Due to internal struggles and ongoing issues within the band, we feel it is our time to move on. We would like to thank all of our fans around the world for their years of love, support and enthusiasm. This was not an easy decision but a very necessary one at this point, may we all meet again someday, somewhere in time."

Loomis and Williams had been with Nevermore since the band's first album, 1995's self titled, Nevermore.

Nevermore recently announced that they would be cancelling their planned tour with SYMPHONY X. No information regarding additional confirmed tour dates is known at this time.

This fuckin sucks coz the new kid Attila can really play and the combination could have been almost as magical as Loomis-Broderick or even better, Smyth-Loomis!

I honestly feel sick to my stomach because of this news. And I'm missing COF tomorrow. And I'll have to pay a tidy sum if I want to catch Decapitated, Sybreed and Nervecell in Hyderabad. And I haven't found a decent, affordable apartment in Gurgaon. And the Jats here piss me off with their uncouthness and slyness. And I wish that Calcutta had a better job scene so I could stay at home, eat great fuckin food and not spend half my income on fuckin rent and utilities and shit. And I wish my best friend would call me sometimes instead of being a self absorbed douche. And I wish that my fucked up family would get a little less fucked up. AND MOST OF ALL I WISH THAT THE ONE BAND THAT MADE ME FORGET ALL THE SHIT MENTIONED ABOVE HAD NOT FUCKIN SPLIT.

So have the stories of his love affair with Jim, the falling out with Loomis on the direction etc etc etc... it doesn't fuckin matter. these bastard were not supposed to fuckin break up. Remember how we always spoke about going to Wacken and seeing them? Well that just went down the fuckin drain, didn't it?

And given how serious he was about Nevermore in general, I doubt he is not going to bounce back. The only thing I hope doesn't happen is a fear factory-esque union/re-union chain of events.

P.S. I prefer Loomis to Loomis+someone.He is just better alone.

Loomis is better alone. Except when he teamed up with Smyth and gave us, IMO, their magnum opus.

Smyth's involvement in song writing was relatively passive. My point is that, Loomis + another guy of his stature might not work. I am still optimistic - what if he pulls of a Kai Hansen and forms a better band? I won't rule that out.
