i didn't travel to chennai for opeth, but i am pretty sure i would go to the bloody siachen glacier if deadmau5 was performing there... here's a preview of the new track he's working on:

which is set to upstage his previous masterpiece, strobe:

Could never get into Deadmau5. But that doesn't mean anything, he has a hypnotic, rich sound thing going. But that just doesn't work for me.

This one time I watched him on Ustream live, he played the same loop for about ten minutes straight. No jokes. A 4/4 beat for ten minutes straight. He uses some rich synths, but I'm not down with his melodies. Mad producer though, and that new song just proves it.

What Bhanuj said, not my cup of soya latte but quite a great producer. Wouldn't mind to see how he handles some other genres from a production point of view, like Rick Rubin.

actually, now that you mention it, this is not the first time i'm hearing that joel is better in the studio than he is live and that he's more of a producer than a DJ.

i was pretty zapped when i heard him the first time, i think it was moar ghosts n whatever. ghosts n stuff just floored me by the production - fat sidechained bass, pumped up drums... the filter cutoff trickery. pretty awesome. i've been trying to replicate that sound with varying amounts of success. compositionwise, i think "strobe" is his best song.

of course, let's not forget that deadmau5 is a huge gear nerd and has a very deep knowledge of kittehs, memes and teh lulz in general. this is his cat, professor meowingtons. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqdHyinGj4U (HINT: THIS VIDEO CONTAINS PURE WIN.)

sometimes, when deadmau5 is bored, he posts more obscure stuff on youtube (also starring his LOLcat): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ck66ML-ByrM

@kappal: just figured out why you dislike Tiesto, oakenfold, AVB, etc.

Too simple for you!

Now explain your stance on Dream Theater.

Haha not too simple actually. I just don't find them doing anything that either interests or excites me.

Also with DT, the circlejerk really bores me.

hehe..
on a serious note..

Is producing such music actually hard? Like does the guy making the music actually hear his own songs from starting to end? While producing them? I wanna know...
