Didn't know where to put it, ala Dhruv, but fuck it. Introduce us to new sounds and tell us what we've been missing out on. Ok Go.

Cloudkicker: Discovered this international Amogh Symphony-esque project this year thanks to MetalSucks. His albums ]]][[[ & Beacons are highly recommended. I'd suggest listening to ]]][[[ on loop before getting in to Beacons. Oh, and he gives out his music for free.

EDIT: Just had a look on his bandcamp. ]]][[[ has been remixed, remastered and re-released as "A New Heavenly Body".

The Dear Hunter - like a cross between Oceansize, Arctic Monkeys and Mars Volta with not so much fanfare but some fantastic vocals. Check out the album Act III - very theatrical vibe to the music, almost like the sonic equivalent of a melodramatic Broadway show :D One of my favorite bands of late.

Jakub Zytecki - A lot of you may not dig this, since it also somewhat belongs to the whole polyrhythm/detuned metal family, but where this lad scores over ANY other band in the genre is his incredible sense of melody and layering, IMO right up there with Devin Townsend himself, although musically very different. Fans of Amogh Symphony should lap this up! www.myspace.com/jakubzytecki

Joe Satriani - Black Swans And Wormhole Wizards - Pretty much my favorite album from Joe ever.

I second the Joe Sat, I don't think it's his best, but it's quite interesting. There's a bhajan beat on one of the songs.... catchy. :D

I'm sorry I don't have any new reccos. But here's some stuff I've been playing recently:

B.Ultra&Basic - Don't be surprised if you haven't heard of him, because this guy released his album no bandcamp and posted his links randomly over the internet. Crazy stuff, it's essentially DnB, but the whole album is best described as catchy electronic music.

Chimp Spanner - Yes, you already know him. Yes, you love his music. Check it out if you haven't. Djent with a nice blanket of catchy guitar licks on top.

Karnivool - Prog rock/metal. Again, not a very new recco. But the bass tone on this album is to die for. The vocalist gets a bit Coldplay at times which is distracting, but the instrumentals are beautiful.

Witchery - Witchkrieg is their latest album, came out a few months ago, this stuff is SICK. The classic sound is missing, but this is still a nice, intense album.

Korn - Korn III.... naah, I'm just fucking with you.

Soulstice: Illusion
Nice electronic trippy type music with pitch corrected vocals etc...but the singers voice is just brilliant!

Shiva Sound System
Haven't been able to find a lot of their stuff but Mumbai Cells is a brilliant brilliant song! More stuff like this would really be appreciated.

Exivious - (self titled)

If the term "jazz metal" actually meant something, this would be it. Ridiculous jazz drumming and bass lines and free-form song structures. Most of you guys know Stef Broks for his work with Textures, but with this project he showcases his jazz chops to the maximum. Phenomenal.

I've been listening to a lot of dubstep and my favourite artist is skream. To start off, check out his essential mix on BBC radio.

Keshav introduced me to Cloudkicker and I love it, Genesis Device is an epic album, what an intro! The latest I heard was Portmanteau, has he come out with anything post that?
Karnivool is beyond words, excellent band, Themata is a masterpiece and Sound awake did not dissapoint as an album either, New day is one of the the best tracks of the year.

Latest music I heard is Intronauts valley of smoke, trademark Intronaut feel, post Metal lovers must give it a listen.

Sound awake was better than Themata IMO. No denying Themata was kickass as well.

As an album Themata was better, not a single weak track boss.

Yeah, am liking it! Exploring music outside of old school metal was a wise choice. :P
