Mass Effect 2 (third playthrough).. apparently the storyline of ME3 will be largely dictated by the decisions taken in ME2, so I'm creating save games of as many different scenarios as possible.. Yes I have no life :P

I have been apart from my PS3 for two months now, worst two months ever.

I really badly want to play Black Ops!

Ah, games. Here's the rundown of my playlist (on the PC):

Metro 2033 (A friend has a project involving the universe, so I'm having a go to get myself acquainted)
NFS Shift (A blast with the newly acquired Xbox controller)
Dawn of War II (Just online co-op with a friend)
PES 2011 (Gone through two seasons in the revamped Be a Legend mode and about quarter a season in the exhaustive Master League with West Brom)
Starcraft II (Just for the campaign, not getting involved with any multiplayer shenanigans)
Darksiders (Surprisingly challenging, but that's in part thanks to a loose checkpoint system)
Amnesia: The Dark Descent (Scary indie game, so I'm trying to play it exclusively at night for maximum effect)
Dead Rising 2
Call of Duty: Black Ops (A few missions in - so far, I'm liking the single-player in MW2 better)
Mafia II (This one manages to get some things right and quite a few wrong)
The Witcher Enhanced Edition (Second playthrough in anticipation of the sequel next year. Added the Director's Cut mod as well, which throws in the most acclaimed community adventures)
Dragon Age: Origins (Damn, I almost forgot I was in the middle of this too)

Recently completed games (on Regular difficulty) include Medal of Honor and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2. Tried the demo for Shank - great art style, wasn't bowled over by the gameplay. I have to try Fallout: New Vegas sometime, hopefully after they patch the bugs out; but it's too vast a gameplay experience to get into in my current position. I had a go at Civilization V and the damn thing was too addictive for me to keep on my computer. I could see myself losing hours and days going at it, so it had to be uninstalled for the sake of my sanity. In other news, a friend is playing RUSE and says it's one of the best strategy games he's experienced in recent times - pretty impressive they got it playable on a console as well.

In addition, finally finished Uncharted 2 on the PS3 in three sessions over the course of six months (doesn't help when the PS3 in question isn't in your house). Also impressed by the demos for Heavy Rain and Flower, though they're probably not for everyone.

I need to sort shit out quick before my computer runs out of space. I think Black Ops and Mafia II will be done fairly soon, since I tend to barrel my way through most shooters at a decent clip. That might help a bit.

Darksiders and Amnesia are Epic!

Almost done downloading with Black Ops. Will start it in a day or two. Btw any mmorpg players/lovers?

I'd feel a lot better about Darksiders if it had a better rendering engine. Right now, all the lighting is so flat it's ridiculous. Sometimes it looks like there's just one light in the entire scene. So when he's outdoors, War casts a shadow, but when he pops into a building, no shadow at all, even though there's a light source right next to him. Sloppy stuff. Not to mention, there are hardly any graphics options at all - straight-up console port. Anyway, at least it's fun.

Ended up uninstalling Black Ops before I finished it. Quite a disappointment on the single player side. Every mission pretty much involved you going up against waves and waves of enemy soldiers. No pacing, very little buildup of tension, uninteresting (and fragmented) storytelling, some substandard texturing and a noticeable lack of polish. For instance, I play with an inverted Y axis for the mouse, but every time I get to control a homing missile, it uses default mouse controls instead, which really screws up my momentum. It's a very basic detail to overlook, which is near unforgivable for a AAA title. I feel a little bad for wailing on Treyarch, but this playthrough has just reinforced the fact that Infinity Ward = CoD. Of course, now that West and Zampella have left IW, even that's not guaranteed. I'd recommend Medal of Honor over Black Ops, at least for the single player campaigns.

Also uninstalled Mafia II before completion - that game was getting seriously annoying. While I loved a couple of things about the game, there was way too much they screwed up. First of all, it's nothing like a sandbox game. You pretty much have one thing you have to do at any given time, and nothing else really seems worth going out of the way to do (unlike any worthy sandbox game). Also, you don't decide anything for the character - he pretty much reacts in whatever way the story decides is best and you just have to tag along, willing or not. Yeah I know most games do this in some form or the other, but the better ones prep you to empathise with your character and align your goals with his. Mafia II does no such thing.

I just ordered Need for speed Hot pursuit 2010 from ebay. Searched a lot for ebay coupons throughout the internet then i found one which required the person to be a new ebay user. Got the game for 850 Rs. Lets hope i love it, early reviews (from sniper) weren't great though ! :(
