Haha Angry Birds is fun. A little bit like Worms.

True that. Read his article on Techtree, criticized arcade racing a lot. :P Btw is Black ops that monotonous/boring that you uninstalled it before even finishing it once?

Well, it's not a bad game, but it's just not not clicking for me. Primary reasons:

- It doesn't look as good as Modern Warfare 2. Easy solitary example - Look at the way the sun reflects off the tarmac in the Wolverines! level in MW2, compare that with the uniform flat reflections in BO.
- The AI is shoddy. Allies and enemies run past each other without noticing for a good few seconds. Enemies ignore your allies altogether sometimes to shoot at you. Allies occasionally let enemies run all the way through them to get a pop at you.
- The missions all feel the same. There's no variety in pacing. Modern Warfare had the AC310 mission and the Chernobyl sniper mission to break things up. MW2 had the Cliffhanger and oil rig mission, and even the regular missions had some ebb and flow to them. Here it's just run and gun all the time. Maybe they saved the best missions for the second half, I don't know.
- The story, well it's not terrible, but it's not motivation enough for me to plod through the game when I already have this many gripes. Some time ago, I'd have finished it just for the sake of completion but these days, there are too many things to do and too little time, so I'll pass.

Although the reports say that they've done a lot of cool stuff with the multiplayer, so if you plonked down $59 on a legit copy, at least that ought to be worth it.

Now if there's one game everyone SHOULD play, it's this one. Get it somehow, don't go for help/walkthroughs no matter how stuck you are. Solving each one of the puzzles here is like an epiphany. In my books, one of the best examples of this medium that has ever been made:

Now that I've played it, I'd totally agree with you. CODMW2 was way better than black ops. Downloading Braid right now. :D

Deus Ex: Human Revolution (aka Deus Ex 3) early next year. Will it be underwhelming like Invisible War or will it aspire to touch the magnificence of the original game? Well, Deus Ex is one of my favourite games of all time, so if it's even half as good, I'll be all over it.

Personally, I'm staying away from gameplay footage since I want to be surprised when it does come out. But if y'all don't have those scruples, you can get a peek here:

I KNOWWWWWWW!!!! Saw the trailer when it was released. It totally blew me off. Fucking awesome trailer. Better than Assassin's Creed Brotherhood's. I hope the game is as promising as the trailer is. :D

Haven't played it, but seeing that it's done by the Operation Flashpoint people, I'm guessing it's going to be a pretty hardcore military sim. Expect to spend a lot of time sneaking about and firing from prone positions rather than running and gunning. Reports say it's got a few bugs and that the UI can get pretty confusing here and there. Although, if you're burned out on scripted shooters, this could be an interesting change.

Purists are already up in arms about the game, but I'm not all that skeptical just yet. I can live without some of the things from the original - medpacks, for instance (regenerating health is fine) and those time limits for certain gear items (riddikulus!). Most important thing is, I want a solid story. I want awesome characters who aren't cardboard cutouts. I want access to constant decisions that affect the story. I want an open-ended approach to completing objectives. And I want a kickass cyberpunk aesthetic/feel. If they can pull all that off, then I'll have a keeper.

Played the new Hot Pursuit, and it can be a bit disappointing coming in from something like Shift. The plus points are that it looks great, runs at a decent clip, the tracks are varied and amazingly scenic, and well, it doesn't take a long time to get into. On the downside, all the cars so far mostly feel the same (they all drift like reckless biyatches) and races against the AI drivers are a bit boring. The problem here is it's halfway in between Burnout and NFS, and while that sounds good on paper for arcade racing fans, it's slightly different in execution. Imagine Burnout without all the crazy crashes and jostling every few seconds. Yeah... One of the biggest gripes is the lack of splitscreen. Yeah I know it's 2010 and everything is about online now, but having a friend over and not being able to go head to head is a let down. The most mileage we ever got out of HP2 was with the splitscreen.

Haw! You should play The Witcher. Geralt makes Shepard look like a monk.

After some more time with HP, it looks like playing as the cops is the most fun. Criterion's experience with the outmuscling-other-cars gameplay pays off, and it's pretty satisfying slamming a speeder into the guardrail and over, even though it's not as OTT as Burnout, unfortunately.
