Did anyone checkout Dragon Age II?
Checked out the demo. Rogue combat feels a lot flashier - seemed a bit more difficult too, which is fine. The demo environments were meh, hope the full game has more interesting locales. Also, what's up with this overarcing narrative device where one person interrogates another, effectively spelling out the plot for the players? I'm not a fan. Quite a few games have been doing this in recent times (Black Ops, Alpha Protocol, and now DA2). Anyway, I'll wait a bit for the game - don't think I'll have time for an investment that lengthy in the immediate future, alas.
Speaking of Alpha Protocol, that's a package where some fine ideas are ruined by shoddy implementation. The actual espionage, character development and conversation mechanics feel great, it's just the gameplay that's buggered. Basic combat is unwieldy as hell, though moving to first max out stealth and pistol skill is paying dividends. That's one more time Obsidian has dropped the ball - either they have shit for quality control, or they're getting screwed by their publishers on release dates. Either way it's a pity.
