It saddens me that there are people out there who cannot take something like Scott Pilgrim at its face value for what its worth - an hour and a half of goof-off fun.
I certainly enjoyed the movie enough. Sure, the ending was too predictable and Michael Cera is annoying (which, seriously, barring Arrested Development, when has he NOT been?) but overall the movie is just a damn enjoyable chucklefest.

Also, second this. Michael Cera's become this annoying hipster stereotype that is damn annoying, but all in all, Scott Pilgrim is some pretty good eye candy and a lot of fun.

Dhobi Ghat = total self indulgence.better movies in the same genre have been made in the last couple of years but went unnoticed cause the director didn't have a star husband or wife to act in it ! Total waste of money and time..

Was beaten to death by boredom while trying to watch Kick Ass I think the title is some hipster irony nonsense because its been saddled on to a film that resolutely refuses to kick ass. Dull fag hero who is a poor man's Michael Cera, very occasional violence with no blood, suffering or anything else that makes violence fun and tons of unnecessary verbiage. Fuck all.

Have tried watching it twice, passed out halfway through on both times. Of course, I was pretty wasted, but I don't even really remember the part I did watch, apart from a vague outline of the story and no interest in watching the rest.

Should probably at least give it a fair shot and watch it sober.

The part where Nick Cage gets his balls beaten in was kind of sweet recompense for the dreadfulness that pervaded the better part of the movie. Also hah! @ poor man's Michael Cera. That was a recurring theme, what with the frugal cousin of (little girl) Dakota Fanning playing the part of Cage's daughter.

The title's from the comic book source material. I haven't read it, so I can't say whether the source material itself is trying to be hipster ironic.

The movie is supposed to be a sort of parody of superhero flicks, including itself. The kid playing Hit Girl deserves a fuckin Oscar IMO.. What's with all the comparisons with mainstream actors ?? I think some of you need to really watch the movie before judging it. Oh well..Can't win em all. :|

It would have been a parody, if it'd been actually funny. But no, it was as boring as the first Panties MacGuire Spiderman movie.

Not a movie, but I saw an interesting documentary "Glorious Technicolor", which was included on my Adventures of Robin Hood blu-ray. As the title suggests, this one documents the development of color and in particular the 3-strip technicolor process that brought vivid hues to the screen. Nice ground covered, including the impact on film aesthetics by the arrival of color.
Also that classic WB cartoon Robin Hood Daffy. In HD, it looks better than I ever remember. "Yoicks! And awa-ay!!" :D

Also saw Pixar's Up with the Cine-explore option, which has the director's commentary supplemented with a lot of production stills and video inserts overlaid on the main feature. Didn't see this fully as I was beginning to fall asleep but it was quite interesting and revealing.
