Speaking of which, I am yet to check out Anaal Nathrakh's latest album. Will definitely post a review once I spin that. Can't fucking wait.

... And I finally heard it.

Fuck, what an album. FUCK. Anaal Nathrakh continues to be the heaviest band I have ever listened to. And consistently fucking brilliant as well. Brilliant, absolutely brilliant.

Since the last post:

Agrimonia - Hosts of the Winged: Meh, decent at best. Melodic death metal that's uninspiring most of the time
Armored Saint - La Raza: Enjoyed it in bits and pieces, but felt that the vocals overpowered the music - as in, too much vocal work going in and boosted up in the mix which irked me - couldn't take anything away from it
The Ocean - Heliocentric: This felt like a bus tour of everything that's good with metal - you've got your heavy bits, smooth calm bits, and everything's laid out neatly and in a beautiful structure - only it doesn't let you stop and soak it all in before leaving for the next stop; Neat songwriting and lyrics though. Recommended!
Black Sheep Of Kali - Our Slow Decay: Meh again; Read about this as the new band to watch out for if you're in tune with Baroness; Disappointing
Horned Almighty - Necro Spirituals: Black metal that's really punkish at heart. Excellent album. Recommended!

Testament - First Strike Still Deadly

Their best album so far IMO. \m/

Watain - Lawless Darkness.

If there was a newer, more refined version of the almighty Dissection, it is Watain. What a flawless album. Stunning melodies which never seem to end and hit you with one wave after another. The clear production helps the songs in the best way possible. A little lengthy but again, it adds to the overall epic factor of the album.

^ I miss Dissection. I actually miss it as if something personal were taken away from me.

NP: Dissection - Storm of the Light's Bane

I doubt there will ever be a Melodic BM release as good as this. Ever. Where Dead Angels Lie is quite surely my favourite Melodic BM single of all time, hell, dare I say, favourite BM track of all time.

Jon Nödtveidt was a fucking legend. Pity, he did what he did.
