^^^ Look on the bright side, at least Meshuggah got some money which they deserve rather than some gang lord in thailand who produces those bootleg t-shirts which are made by underage children with bleeding fingers and kept in unsanitary living conditions

Remember its going towards saving the children in the long run. :)

But yes quality of merch needs to improve and I think Sanju now knows that and is working round the clock to sort that shit out.

Oh boy.. I hope, Mr Makhija, that the use of the stereotypes and cliches were for comic relief.. I hope that Sanju is doing the right thing and working towards giving us our money's worth.. I hope that Meshuggah got a cut of the profits from t-shirt sales (although I daresay they wouldn't want to wear those tees themselves, not willingly at least) and I certainly hope that you can meet Eak at MBK Bangkok, eat some thai curry with his family while listening to some metal, and have him dispel the notion that those cool metal tees are produced in sweat shops. 8-)

You won't remember me but we used to be acquaintances when I lived in Mumbai 6-7 years ago. Saw a couple of smaller DR shows back in the day. You guys have come a long way, good job on the new record. Here's looking to the future.

Sahil tends to depend a lot on hyperbole and straw men to back up his stance on piracy. Probably works with his fanbase, but it can be intellectually dishonest sometimes.

I've never heard of a crusade against Band T-shirt Piracy !!

Yeah I noticed the hyperbole but it's alright coz I think Mr. Makhija prolly knows what's going on and hasn't sold his sold to the corporate devil (or should i say demon) yet. 8-)

To be fair, I do believe that if you're buying band merchandise, you should buy it from the band itself. But the sweatshop thai ganglord bogeyman is ridiculous.

I second that but in a country like ours, availability and pricing are key methinks.. I'll buy what I can get and at a price that seems fair to me, especially since I almost only wear band tees when I'm not at work.. Checked out the Rock Robe website and 1500 bucks for a tee is steep by any standard. I would consider picking up a special tee or something I've been looking for but after seeing the "official merchandise" for Textures, Amon Amarth and Meshuggah, I think I'll stay the fuck away..
Also, to me, applying the idea of music piracy to apparel seems, well, kinda retarded..

Yeah, it's not piracy. I think if the official merchandise is available at a reasonable price (I think Rs. 500 for a good quality t shirt is pretty reasonable), then it makes much more sense to buy the official merch. Especially because with the new business model, merch becomes a more important source of revenue. But 1500 for a T is just OTT. and there's no reason to try and guilt trip people for buying bootleg merch.

Probably when you wash the 1500 ones, the logo does not fade
