Mumbai’s Hindi progressive outfit Coshish have released their debut album, titled Firdous, with Universal Music India, and have also announced an album tour to accompany it. The album is available for purchase at Planet M stores across the country as well as through online platforms Flipkart, WebmallIndia, Infibeam, Landmark, Hungama, Nokia Music Store, iTunes and Amazon.

The record is being touted as concept album revolving around the story of “a seemingly ordinary young man and his transition into becoming a self aware being, free from the ties of the material world”. There are photographs and handwritten lyrics which tie the concept together and allow fans the luxury of piecing together the correct order of songs on the album. It has been produced, recorded, and mixed by Zorran Mendonsa and mastered by Jens Bogren.

The band will be touring the country, including gigs at Pune, Chennai, Trivandrum, Bangalore, Delhi, and Hyderabad. So far, only the Mumbai dates have been announced, and Coshish will take the stage at the Blue Frog, Mumbai on September 11, and The Little Door on September 24.

The four-piece has established a melodic sound that is complemented with intricate guitar work, a swiveling rhythm section, and wistful and reflective singing. We’ve only heard the album promo sampler so far (because it's free), but we can safely say that they sound nothing like Jal, which can only be a good thing.
